- The building with two sets of double-doors was purpose-built in October 1926 as a replacement for Kettering's former fire station at the top of Market Street. It boasted a garage for two engines, a bathroom, recreation room, workshop and drill tower and was the brigade's base until the present headquarters in Headlands opened in 1955. Three years later it re-opened as the town's ambulance station, pictured here in 1973,
